$2000 Referral Award - Java Engineer - Lead Global Newsstand Development for Digital Magazines

It's a global village my friend, and as a Lead Software Engineer for Zinio Systems you'll drive the development of our Global Newsstand for digital magazines to every corner of the world. Anytime a customer uses Zinio, it will be your work in Lucene or another document search technology that allows them to find a particular magazine and purchase it. Publishers are turning to digital media because they can add sound, movies and other interactive elements that literally make the page of a magazine pulse with life. It's an exciting time to be involved in something this new and if you've led teams developing public-facing, high-transaction, eCommerce websites where people visit, search for things and buy them, then you can join Zinio and lead us into this emerging frontier. Refer someone who is hired and remains on the job for 90 days and earn $2,000. Simply use the link below in this job description, choose refer, and load the necessary information about your referral into the Accolo system.

We work with over 1700 consumer magazine and book titles from 350 publishers and we have 4 million subscribers in most countries. Prominent publishing clients include Hearst, Hachette Filipacchi, McGraw-Hill, Playboy, Primedia, World Publications, Ziff Davis, and IDG. We offer employees a competitive salary, health benefits, 401(k), stock ownership plan and an excellent work environment.
As one of our Lead Engineers on the Global Newsstand project, one of your first tasks will be selecting the optimal document search technology. Your prior experience with the open source Apache Lucene framework, with the Google Search Appliance or with another 3rd party offering, such as ISYS:web8, Exalead One or Odeum, will allow you take the reins in this regard. While we're hoping you'll be proficient with the Flex 2.0 framework in this role, because rich content is what distinguishes digital magazines from the printed page, we may settle for familiarity if you excel in other areas. With digital magazines being so new, the ability to capture interest as prospective customers preview them on the Zinio website will be crucial and your involvement will be key. You also will have the good fortune to work in an Agile/Scrum bottom up development environment in which our engineers make decisions on getting software built.
